'We just love being mean!'

Description

Decided to do something fun for myself for my birthday yesterday, so I put this together! I thought it would be fun to reinterpret some Mario characters after Mario Kart 8 was released, so I started with my favourites, the Koopalings! Their accessories (glasses, jewelry) were left out on purpose (to be added later). I messed up on Lemmy and a couple other points really badly (such as Iggy being on his own plane of perspective like the rule breaker he totally is) but I like it overall.

From left to right: Iggy Koopa, Larry Koopa, Ludwig Von Koopa, Lemmy Koopa, Morton Koopa Jr., Wendy O. Koopa, and Roy Koopa.

Have a wall of text to go with these reinterpretations, because why not:

Iggy:
Brainy inventor who supplies Bowser with weapons. Caretaker to Lemmy for the better part of his youth; this role is somewhat reversed in adulthood as Iggy’s mind becomes increasingly compromised from excessive stress. Regularly trades barbs with Ludwig, whom he taunts for blind subservience to Bowser. Hears “voices” later in life. Keeps secrets from his siblings.

Larry: Sports dude and ridiculously sociable. Larry can make friends with almost anybody and weasel information out of them with just as much class. Considered the favourite in Bowser’s court for his amicability and skill as a sportsman. Fan becomes pinked when embarrassed or angry. Youngest of the seven.

Ludwig: Arrogant and self-conscious. Ludwig is the most ambitious and cruel of the seven and acts as their self-proclaimed “leader”. Puts loyalty to Bowser above all else, including his siblings. Believes subservience to Bowser will strengthen them as a family. The idea of a broken or dysfunctional family deeply disturbs him. Characteristic tooth results from a congenital defect of the skull. Hallucinates later in life. Eldest of the seven.

Lemmy: Small-bodied and agile. Lemmy’s mental development is roughly one-third that of his siblings due to an injury sustained in childhood, notated by two scars on the left side of the head. Is loyal only to Iggy, who is his caretaker. Sight is hampered by two lazy eyes. Can balance perfectly on any object that will bear his weight.

Morton: Quiet and sensitive. Possesses a jagged scar over his left eye. Morton is a follower by nature. Most commonly seen with Roy, who uses him as “extra incentive” when going about his business for Ludwig, or with Wendy, whom she uses as a captive audience for her singing. Otherwise solitary. Most socially observant of the seven.

Wendy: Greedy and temperamental. Wendy values material possessions above all things excepting family. Fights viciously when angered, shows admirable grace when calm. Collects gems and jewelry. Prefers to spend her time with Morton, who tolerates her absorbed behaviour and singing.

Roy: Calm and collected. Roy is the bully of the group, picks on others to compensate for his albinism. Most commonly seen with Morton or Ludwig. Acts as Ludwig’s “right hand man”, applying “recommended force” where needed. Keeps a considerable distance from Iggy and his inventions.

I’m sure piebald has been done for Morton already, I’d be very surprised if it hasn’t. Roy has full albinism, hence his eyes are pink / red. Giving Roy albinism seemed much more plausible for his pinkish colouring as opposed to just making him pink because “why not”.

My goodness...they look so grotesque, but in such an incredibly appealing manner that I cannot help but marvel at these designs. These are incredible reinterpretations!
